Analyzing Your Assessment
Specific numbers are less important than the pattern of the items which are scored low. Look at these low items and search for a pattern or two. Such as:
Pattern Name Key Items
Competitive Position 2, 1, 19
Improvement 5, 6, 11, 12, 14, 19
Leadership Direction 8, 9, 17, 20
People Management 15, 18
Performance Financial 1, 13, 16
Personal 3, 4, 7, 10
Sales 1, 2, 13, 19
Great companies fix the root cause, not just the bandaid. Here are some comments on your total score.
90 to 100 | Great health now and strong foundation for the future. Look carefully at any time scored a 3 or lower and address it. |
80 to 89 | Healthy. Look at the items you scored lowest. Do you see any patterns like low scores on the personal items or the longer term items. Do you have a program in place to address the low scored items? |
70 to 79 | This is getting into the marginal health area. The business might feel okay, but actually be sick. You probably have the resources to make a strong drive towards improved health, but you must begin a serious improvement effort to prevent further sliding. |
41 to 69 | The business is sick and most likely feels sick unless you are in denial. A serious review of the business based on what you scored low is in order. Do you as owner have the energy and faith to turn the business around? |
40 and lower | The business does not sound healthy and life may be very challenging for you as the owner. Some serous and immediate actions are needed. At these scores the business is sick and it feels sick. |
